Arts District Couples Session | Los Angeles, CA

There’s something magical about the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles. Nothing is exactly alike; every corner you turn, there is something totally unique and creative.

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of spending time with Scout and Jake, and it was so much fun! It was a gorgeous spring afternoon: not too hot and a there was a refreshing breeze. We met at Angel City Brewery to enjoy a beer before starting the session.

Throughout the session, you could just tell they were in love and having a great time together. They were easy-going and excited, which made it even more fun. They even bought along their pups, Sophie and Murphy, which added a playful and fun component to their session.

Thanks so much for letting me spend part of the afternoon with you two! Enjoy some of my favorites from their session below…

Sand Dunes Couples Session | Imperial, CA

Earlier this spring I met up with Andrea and Elliott for a unique morning session in one of the most interesting desert spots in southern California, Imperial Sand Dunes.

These dunes are unlike any desert landscape I have seen throughout southern California. The sand is soft and powdery and has a variety of contrasting textures throughout. The golden morning light perfectly illuminated the natural wind-blown sand and off-road vehicle tire tracks.

The main goal of this session was to get a variety of unique photos throughout various dunes—a mix of close-up and distance shots. It was so much fun running up and down the dunes with this gorgeous couple celebrating their 5th year of marriage.

Andrea and Elliott: thank you for trusting me to take your photos! I loved getting to work with you and enjoyed exchanging funny stories.

Bachelorette Party | Palm Springs, CA

In honor of the first day of spring and warmer weather ahead, I wanted to share some of the highlights from a fun poolside bachelorette party I recently photographed in Palm Springs.

This party was in celebration of the adorable bachelorette, Kiki. She plans to get married in tropical Belize so she and her bridesmaids wore matching palm leaf skirts for the occasion.

Hot Air Balloon Engagement | Palm Springs, CA | Tania & Ankit

Tania & Ankit met in their first year of medical school and are currently fulfilling their residency training. Although their schedules are crazy with overnight and multi-day shifts, Ankit wanted to plan the perfect surprise proposal for his wonderful girlfriend, Tania. This was no easy task as Ankit had to coordinate to swap shifts with other residents, but he managed to make it happen!

Ankit kept it a total secret until the day of the hot air balloon ride. He told Tania he had a surprise for her and to wear warm clothing as rain was expected later in the day. They arrived to the meeting location for the hot air ballon and met with myself and the balloon pilot. Neither Ankit or Tania had ever been on a hot air balloon before (nor has I). As the balloon was being inflated and the minutes neared for boarding, anxiety and excitement filled us all.

We then boarded the ballon, I engaged in small talk with Ankit and Tania, but primarily kept to myself and photographed scenery in an attempt to conceal the proposal nearing.

The balloon pilot announced that we would descend to have his staff member on the ground take a group photograph. As we descended, we saw his ground staff member. This member was holding a sign saying “Will you marry me”. Ankit asked Tania to look out to the sign, in which she gasped and and smiled ear to ear. Ankit proceeded to pull out a ring from his jacket pocket and got down on one knee to ask Tania to marry him. She immediately said yes, embraced him tightly, and showered him in kisses.

Tania then said “I feel on top of the world”. We all laughed at how literal and figurative it was— not to mention heartwarming. Ankit and Tania immediately started calling and Facetiming their loved ones to share the news.

It was such a beautiful and perfectly timed (rainstorms ensued later that day) proposal.

Something Homemade Branding Photoshoot | Rancho Santa Fe, California

I recently did a branding photoshoot for Something Homemade, a catering company based in Rancho Santa Fe, California. The photoshoot took place in a private home which was a fitting location to match the look and feel of the company—cozy home cooked meals for private parties and events.

Something Homemade is owned and operated by Chef Keely Barrera. Keely’s dishes are made beautifully and thoughtfully. Every dish is made from scratch, never canned or processed.

I left the photo session with a tray of lovely baked goods from Keely. All were great, but I have to say her lemon bars in particular were phenomenal.

If you are hosting an event at or near the Rancho Santa Fe area and looking for catering service, definitely give Something Homemade a try!
